WAH Look #23 - Woven

I can't believe this is that last week of my WAH Nails series!!

Just three looks to go. Amazing.
I just want to say a big thank you to anyone who has stopped by over the last few weeks, and if you're new... welcome!

Today's look is called Woven, and is a lot less time consuming as you may first think :)

Like the book says, this is just another example of how versatile monochrome colours can be.

I think my pen skills are improving slowly....!

All you will need is a black nail art pen and a white polish. I used Illamasqua Scorch.

I had a couple of minor 'blobbing' issues where I squeezed the pen a bit hard, but apart from that I'm pretty happy with these nails!

Side note - I must apologise for the yellow cuticles! It's remnants of the last look, and I didn't realise till I looked through the pictures...

Anyway! I hope you like these nails, and I'll see you Wednesday for the penultimate WAH look. I'm excited.

WAH Look #22 - Tie Dye Swirl

I hope you've all had a fabulous holiday period :) and that you were all spoilt rotten, and spoilt you're loved one's in return.

Now THIS is a look I can get into :)

Two colours and a cocktail stick! And nail magic ensues :)

The book says to 'blob' on the nail varnish, and when you've blobbed as much as you think you need, blob a bit more! You don't want to hit the nail with your cocktail stick, as you'll remove any varnish and obviously damage your nail.

A light touch is best, however if you have enough nail polish on it's not really an issue.

For this mani, I used Illamasqua Self and Beautybay Espanola Way. And a cocktail stick of course!

These are great fun, and you can really have control over your lines and patterns. I think my little finger came out best, which is strange as I've usually lost all patience by that point.

Hope you like these, and I'll see you monday for the last week of WAH mani's!!!

WAH Look #21 - Tie Dye Fade

First of all-

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I hope you all have a fabulous day, and Santa has brought you everything you wanted :-)

Second of all -

I hate this one! I am literally the worst ever at gradients to start with, so doing them vertically down the nail was an absolute nightmare!!

I don't really have much to say except sorry!!! Anyway, back to the nails...

The colours I used are Nubar Lemon Sorbet, Illamasqua Noble, Nails Inc. Campden Hill Road, elf Skinny Jeans, and Barry M bright Purple.

The less said about these the better!

See you Friday!

WAH Look #20 - Tartan

Today's look is suitably festive I feel, so hopefully this will make up for my lack of Christmas nails this year!!

WAH Nails look number 19 is called Tartan, and I found it so hard! If you've followed me for a while, you'll know I just don't have any patience. I try so hard, but I just can't!

On reflection, I don't think they turned out too badly although I know I'm capable of better...

Colours used are China Glaze Winter Berry, and Barry M Black, White and Yellow., and a black nail art pen.

I think this is just another case of practice makes perfect!

WAH Look #19 - Splatter

Hello polish peeps, and happy Friday!

I know a lot of you will break up for Christmas now, but spare a though for us poor folk working up to Christmas Eve won't you......!

Today I'm up to the 19th look form The WAH Nails Book of Downtown Girls, and it's called 'Splatter'. Graffiti inspired, colourful and pretty simple yet so effective. That's my favourite kind of nail art, and probably WAH are so successful.

I used Illamasqua Scorch for the white base (I forgot I love it so much!) Then Barry M Black and Yellow and Nails Inc. Hertford Street for the pink.

I think sponging gives a great effect, and it really does look like spray paint. And in the book they say to start with the lightest colour so as not to be able to see any overlaps. It's little things like that which really make the book for me.

I hope you're all doing something wonderfully festive this weekend!

See you Monday :)

WAH Look #18 - Sneaker

These nails are so much fun :) It just shows you that nails can be anything. Not everyone is content with a classic french manicure, and that is so ok!

Today's look is called Sneaker, and is super colourful and preppy. The book calls for bright primary colours, but of course you could use any colour you like -

I used Barry M Black, Yellow, Spring Green and Cobalt Blue, 17 Knockout Red, Illamasqua Scorch for the white tips and a white and a black nail art pen.

They actually took no time really to do. I was expecting them to take a while but really the longest part was getting the white tips to a shape I was happy with!

I love how instantly recognisable they are too.

Hope you like these, see you Friday for number 19!

WAH Look #17 - Script Writing

This look just doesn't seem right on a Monday!!

Today is look number 17 from WAH book 2 and is called Script Writing. When I was scanning the book when I first bought it, I was not looking forward to this one. Nice clean, flowing lines with a nail art pen? Yeah, ok!

But to be honest I found this one easier than the more detailed looks and it's long, continuous strokes makes working with a pen a lot easier.

Just two things required for this mani. A blue base polish for which I used Illamasqua Noble, and a white nail art pen.

Like I said, this one came out much better than expected :)

I hope you're all having a lovely Monday.......!

WAH Look #16 - Python Skin

The next look in the WAH series, is another fabulous take on animal print - Python Skin! Sometimes, I wonder where they get so many inspired ideas from. The place is full of creativity.

I feel much better about look #16 than #15 ;-)

The look calls for an iridescent green base. I could only use Illamasqua Radium! I also used Barry M Racing Green and a black nail art pen.

I really love this look. It took a little while to get used to, but once I got into the rhythm of the pattern it was loads of fun to do.

The colours are just perfect too, and I'd like to try it with a red and cream base too. Another mani from WAH that had so many possibilities!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend, and I'll see you on Monday,

Look #15 - Palm Leaf

Look number 15 from the second WAH Nails book is called Palm Leaf. I've got admit I thought it was something else when I first glanced at it! ;-)

I'm going to be honest, I really struggled with this one. I just couldn't get the leaf to look right, which is why they look different on every nail! Still, I had fun when I did them and that's what it;s all about :-)

I used Models Own Toxic Apple for the neon base and Barry M Black with a small nail art brush.

Like I say, I found this look difficult, but I'm quite pleased to say it's my first go at anything remotely like this!

Let me know if you try this one, as I'd love to see how much better you all do :-)

WAH Look #14 - Paisley

I'm back again! Feeling much better and ready to get stuck back into the WAH Nails Book of Downtown Girls :-)

Today we're onto look number 14, Paisley-

I think this one turned out pretty well to be honest! Another one where my nails needed to be a bit longer I think, just to be able to get the full effect of the pattern.

A bit fiddly, but I think the effect is great yet again! Another fabulous idea from the WAH team.

I used Nails Inc. Westminster and a white nail art pen.
