Illamasqua Dottient

Yes you read it correctly, dottient! Basically I've merged a gradient and a dotticure....

I wanted to have another go with my Illamasqua colours, Purity (orange) and Milf (green), and I thought gradient would work nicely. Once I finished it, I felt like it needed an something extra so I added the dots in everyone's favourite Illamasqua shade, Load!

Apart from the particularly average clean up job, I think these have turned out really well and actually how I envisioned the mani which barely ever happens!!

I use the sponge method to create my gradients. Its super easy, and there are plenty of tutorials out there, but let me know if you'd like me to do one :)

I hope you all enjoy today's post, especially as you're bound to see more of the 'dottient' in the near future!

Have a great week,

Rimmel x Rita Spring Flower Nail Art

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you're all having a lovely weekend. I've been playing Cinderella today, preparing the house for my parents' coming home from their holiday tomorrow!

In my last post, I swatched some of the Spring offering from Rimmel, including two of the Rita Ora collab colours. I enjoy the colour combination so much that I've decided to use them again today for some nail art. I've taken my cue from the super cute packaging of the Rita Ora colours and gone with flowers -

I used two coats of Rain Rain Go Away as the base colour, then dotted on Neon Fest (pink) and Breakfast At Tiffany's (blue) to create the flower design -

I can't decide which combination I prefer, but I am leaning towards the pink flower with the blue centre at the moment..... though I'm sure I'll change my mind later!

But then that's why we have so many fingers :-)

Have a great rest of your weekend, and I'll see you all on Tuesday with a new post!

Rimmel x Rita

Happy Friday! I felt like this week dragged on for so long, I'm glad to finally see the back of it!

I went shopping yesterday to try and perk myself up a bit, but i wasn't feeling very inspired :( I did, however, come across these new 60 Seconds Super Shine nail colours by Rita Ora for Rimmel.

I liked a couple of the shades so I picked up Rain Rain Go Away (the greige) and Neon Fest (hot pink). The colours were on 3 for 2 in Boots though so I also grabbed Breakfast At Tiffany's (sky blue) from the regular 60 Seconds Super Shine line as I thought it complemented the other two colours nicely.

On to the swatching! I am wearing two coats with top coat in each swatch.

First up is Rain Rain Go Away, a pinky toned greige creme  -

Second is Neon Fest, a hot pink creme -

And finally Breakfast At Tiffany's, a bright sky blue creme -

Overall I'm very happy with my purchases! Honestly the formula isn't the best I've ever tried, it can go slightly patchy, however for the price I'm not going to complain, especially when they're on 3 for 2. I was also not a fan of the brush. It's a flat one, which I usually like, however it was just too wide and made for a messy application.

That being said, the colours are beautiful, if not very unique, but a solid drug store nail polish none the less! And the packaging is so cute :)

The Rita Ora for Rimmel 60 Second Super Shine nail polishes are £2.99 each and I purchased mine from Boots.

Have a lovely weekend!

NCLA - I Only Fly Private

Happy Sunday every one! Another week is nearly over.... where is this year going?!

But it's Spring! Finally! Did anyone else feel like we were having a never ending Winter? And the best way to celebrate? Spring mani obviously.

I received my March Glossy Box on Friday and inside was the perfect shade to take me into spring, I Only Fly Private by NCLA.

I've never tried anything by NCLA before, so I had a look at Shopncla.com and found some info about the Nail lacquer range -

Now onto the swatch! I Only Fly Private is a pale orange creme. It's not a pastel by any means, however still lovely and bright and perfect to cheer up my nails in time for Spring! I am wearing two coats with top coat -

I am completely in love with this colour! I wish it wasn't quite as red as it doesn't really suit my skin tone, I tend to go for cooler colours, but I still love the shade and the formula is wonderful. So smooth and perfectly opaque in two coats.

The brush is a lovely flat brush that we all know I'm a fan of, however they aren't quite as rounded along the corners as I like. But that really is the only think I can think to moan about!!

NCLA nail polishes retail at £13, and you can purchase online here in the UK at Feelunique.com.
Don't forget to check out Glossybox.co.uk for all your subscription options!

Have a wonderful day!

Chanel Spring Animal Matte

I've wanted to use the Spring colours by Chanel since I swatched them back in February, but I just couldn't decide what to do. So to finally solve the internal struggle, I decided to go with a staple Leopard print design.

The base colour is Tenderly, I then added Paradisio (metallic pale green) and outlined with Orage.

I wanted to use the Matte Top Coat to soften the look of the mani, and I think it worked out really well especially with the base colour. I used a Nails Inc one I received in a Glossybox :)

I hope you enjoy today's post!

Have a lovely weekend :)

China Glaze Road Trip Dry Brush Mani

I've become so obsessed with these three colours!

First I did the usual and gave my China Glaze Road Trip colours a swatch, then I had a play and created a dotticure, and now it's time for a dry brush mani!

I used two coats of Barry M's White as a base, then layered the China Glaze colours Trip of a Lime Time; I Brake for Colour and My Way or the Highway, over the top using the dry brush method.

Hope you enjoy, and aren't getting sick of seeing these colours yet!!

Have an awesome day :)

Barry M Abstract Stars

Abstract. Translation : When something kinda looks like what it's meant to but doesn't really turn out like you imagined it to.

;)

Today I wanted to use my Barry M Speed Dry as a base for something, and as I'm yearning for Spring time I decided to pair it with Pink Flamingo which is my all time favourite Barry M colour.

After watching the fabulous Nicole of YWP's nail tutorial, which included abstract flowers, I thought I'd get my dotting tool out and try my hand at some stars! And this is the result, very abstract indeed.....

I think they did turn out ok, they sort of remind me of little squashed starfish! I love the colour combo, reminds me of rhubarb and custard....

You can check out the full Barry M Nail Paint range at Barrym.com.

I hope you're all having the best weekend! And thanks for reading :)

ModelsOwn Blue HyperGel Layered Ruffian Mani!

Sometime's when I can't think of a witty name for a mani, I just describe what it is, saves me having to write an intro at least!!

A little while ago, at the same time I purchased some of the new Colour Chromes by Models Own I also bought three of their HyperGel polishes, all shades of blue, which was a happy accident I suppose :) So I thought they's be perfect to have a bit of a play around with.

I went on a bit of a ruffian kick last summer, and I decided to bring it back with these HyperGels as the technique is an easy way to showcase different colours. And because I had three shades of one colour, I decided to layer them up to show them all of at once!

The colours are L-R; Cornflower Gleam; Blue Glint and Inky Blue -

Models Own HyperGel nail polishes are £4.99 each available at  Modelsownit.com.

And just a little info on these, if you haven't tried them yet! Don't be fooled into thinking the formula is any more opaque than a regular nail polish, they still require two shades (if not three, the Cornflower Gleam shade is still a little patchy after two). However they do have a super shiny finish as they claim, but to be honest, this can be achieved anyway with a decent top coat.

Still, the colours are gorgeous, and I'd pay the £4.99 all day!

I hope you're all having a great week so far!

China Glaze Road Trip Dotticure

Is it Sunday again already?!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted swatches of three colours from the China Glaze Road Trip collection for Spring 2015.

After swatching, I decided that I loved the colours together so much I had to use them all in a mani together :) I chose to go with a dotticure mainly because it's the simplest design that easily showcases the colours!

I think my favourite colour way it the green (Trip of a Lime Time) over top of the blue (My Way or the Highway). Though I do love to blue over the red (I Brake for Colour) as well!!

You can check out the China Glaze collections at Chinaglaze.com, and I purchased mine at Beautybay.com :)

Thank you all for reading!

Illamasqua Throb + Swarm

Happy Friday everyone!

Today I have swatches of Throb (blood red creme) and Swarm (black glitter) by Illamasqua. These two came in one of the Black Friday Quads, along with Raindrops and Blizzard.

First is Throb, the swatch is of two coats of colour with a top coat -

I then layered over one coat of Swarm -

The formula on Throb is so great, almost a one coater ;) And the glitter in Swarm is just densely packed enough to give full coverage in one coat, with no placement needed!

Illamasqua Nail varnishes are £14.50 each available at Illamasqua.com, or you can pick up the Effects Nail Quad for only £26!

I hope you all have an amazing weekend :)

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Quad

Hello polish people! And welcome to Tuesday's post on Wednesday ;)

Today I'm excited to share swatches of four Sally Hansen polishes that I recently picked up at TKMaxx. They're all beautiful Spring colours, and even better, were a real bargain!

L-R Mint Condition, Mojito, Lady Lavender and Pedal to the Metal.

All swatches are two coats of polish with a top coat.

First is Pedal to the Metal, a metallic grey / purple -

Second up is  Lady Lavender. A pastel purple with a light shimmer -

Next comes Mojito, light green creme -

And finally, Mint Condition, a pastel green, this one also has a light shimmer -

The shimmer in Mint Condition and Lady Lavender is so subtle, it just makes the polish look super shiny, which I really like. I love a micro shimmer! And the colours are perfect for Spring, which can't come round quick enough. The formula's are lovely in all four, all really opaque in two coats, no streakiness, except the metallic, but that is to be expected.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes retail at £6.99, however this set was £7.99 from TKMaxx.

I'm pretty sure these colours were LE, however you can still get them on eBay etc.

Hope you're all having an amazing week!
